What can I expect at my eye appointment?
The routine examination has two parts, usually lasting 45-60 minutes. The first is to check your vision—this helps our doctors determine any changes or if correction is necessary. The second half is to evaluate the health of the eyes. Many patients will get eye drops to dilate the eyes. This is helpful to get a better view inside the eyes.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Bring in your most recent eyeglasses. They are a good baseline for vision changes, but also help our opticians determine the “new look” you are targeting. Please bring your insurance card or information for the person being examined, so we are able to bill eligible expenses. Typically, the date of birth and last four digits of social security numbers are needed to verify coverage.
How can I check my insurance coverage?
Most insurance plans have a handbook and online resources to explain your coverage. When looking for the coverage, make sure it refers to “routine vision examinations”. Typically, most health plans offer a routine eye health examination yearly. Several companies also offer a separate vision plan. If you are still unsure, the 800 number on the back of your card will allow you to speak with an insurance representative. We realize that it is confusing, so let us know if we can help!

What if I don’t see my insurance company listed, or I don’t have coverage?
No problem! You are always welcome at our clinics. If your exam is not covered by health insurance, we provide discounts the day of service. Please contact our receptionist for more information.
